Before you walk in
Do I pay anything for a walk-in visit if I have OHIP?
No. Ontario law doesn’t allow a clinic to charge you for care OHIP covers. You only pay for what OHIP leaves out, like a sick note or a form for work or school.
I already have a family doctor. Can I still walk in here?
Yes. In Ontario, an occasional walk-in visit doesn’t take you off your family doctor’s list. Give the desk your doctor’s name so the visit can be noted on your record.
I got hurt at work. Can I be seen here?
For a minor injury like a sprain or a strained back, yes. Say at the desk that it happened at work before you are seen, because a work injury is handled as a WSIB claim rather than an ordinary OHIP visit, and the desk will tell you what this clinic needs. Report it to your employer too, and go to emergency for anything serious.
Can I walk in for a physical, or do I need to book?
Book it. A physical needs more time than a walk-in visit, so it gets its own appointment. The walk-in list is for something that came up today.
